A complete copper-alloy thimble dating from the late Medieval to Post-Medieval period (c. AD 1400-1550). The thimble consists of a single domed sheet in the form of a hollow hemisphere which is compressed on one side. The exterior surface is covered with a series of small circular indentations covering most of the sheet other than a plain circumferential section around the tip of the dome and a plain thin circumferential band around the lower edge of the sheet. There is a small circular perforation through the tip of the dome. The interior of the thimble is plain. The thimble measures 11.5mm in height, has an external diameter of 18.5mm and a thickness of 1mm. The circular perforation measures 1mm in diameter. The thimble weighs 1.72 grams.

For a similar thimble from Hertfordshire recorded on the PAS database see BH-433F18, while Egan (2005, p. 131, no. 621) records a similar thimble from London from a context dated c. AD 1530-1550.
