An incomplete Roman copper alloy double-stranded, cable-twisted bracelet dating to the late Roman to Early-Medieval Period. c.AD 200-500.
Description: About half the bracelet remains and is formed from two tightly twisted oval sectioned strands. One end terminates in an old break the other in a hook for fastening. The bracelet is heavily distorted and patinated a mid-light green colour.
Measurements: 54.66mm long, 52.01mm wide, 4.12mm thick (at thickest) and 8.58g in weight.
Discussion: Crummy (1983, p. 38-39, fig. 41) discusses a number similar examples particularly No 1613. Which were recovered from late 3rd - 4th century graves, they are also known from 5th century (early-medieval) deposits.
