A complete, cast, copper alloy, bead, possibly Iron Age - Roman in date 300 BC- AD.200. The bead is sub spherical, almost barrel shaped with a wider mid point and narrower ends. The bead is made up of 5 transverse collars separated by four incised grooves. The end collars are thin, while the next two are thicker and the final central collar is thin again, much the same thickness as the exterior ones. The bead has an internal diametre of 6.59mm and a max. exterior diam of 10.78mm. The bead is a silvery-green/grey in colour, consistent with it being high tin bronze designed to have a silver-like appearance.
A similar example can be found in HAMP-DC8070, SUR-F1E71C, these are both generally dated to the Iron Age, though, there is a similarity to Roman spacer beads.
