A copper-alloy Roman radiate of Allectus (AD 293-296), dating to the period AD 293-296 (Reece period 14). COMES AVG reverse type depicting Neptune standing left on prow and dolphin, holding dolphin and trident. C Mint. Unlisted in RIC, although the reverse type is known for Carausius (cf. RIC V.2, p. 501, no. 446, p. 527, no. 746). This coin is included in Sam Moorhead's corpus for RIC.
Notes:
The reverse design probably represents the emperor's naval power. This design is unique on a coin of Allectus.
