A post-Medieval cast Copper-alloy double loop oval buckle with angled frames dating c AD 1500 - AD1650. The buckle frame consists of opposing double loops which are D-shaped in plan, with a central strap bar, sharply bevelled. The frame is a D section, undecorated and flat on the bottom. At the end of the strap bar the loop sides are concave.
Ferrous corrosion product is present on the strap bar and on one of the loops, probably a witness mark from an iron pin. Overall condition is good with a light green powdery finish.
The frame measures in length 31.81 mm and 28.66 mm in width. The thickness of frame measures 3.26 mm and the weight is 6.89 grams.
A similar buckle is illustrated by Whitehead; Buckles 1250-1800 (2003) Page 55, No 318.
