Complete post-Medieval Copper-alloy strap-tensioner buckle (c. 1500 - 1700 AD). The buckle consists of two components; a cast circular frame with a bevelled edge and a single folded cast plate with beaded tranverse lines on the long edges. It is folded round the frame and fastened by a Copper-alloy rivet. The unattached end of the plate is bent at the extremity and pierced. The strap-tensioner measures: 29.02 mm in length, 14.56 mm in width and 4.98mm in thickness. The weight of the strap-tensioner is 1.92g. Condition is good with a powdery light green surface with concretions in places.
