Rim sherd from a Late Anglo-Saxon vessel made from a Lincoln Fine-shelled ware, dating from the late 10th to mid 11th century (Young and Vince, 2005, 81-88). The fabric is medium hard with a profuse, crushed sea-shell filler, the sherd has a dark grey exterior and core with a mid-brown inner face. The rim is everted with a square-cut edge. It is estimated that this sherd came from a vessel with a rim diameter of c. 140mm.
