A fragment of uncertain bifacially worked lithic implement of possibly of Lower Paleothic date c.500,000-250,000.
Description: The fragment is irregularly shaped, with one rounded end (the butt end?), roughly straight sides and a large jagged break at the opposite butt end. There is invasive, scaled low angle retouch across much of it was some short scaled abrupt retouch around the butt end possibly blunting the edge. The large break across the tools width is relatively old as it has begun to recorticate and patinate again. Where visible the fressh flint is pale grey-brown, the patination is a mottled white and blue colour. There is also substantial light orangey-brown iron staining typical of palaeothic flints.
