A silver Roman coin; a denarius probably of the emperor Trajan (AD 98-117) perhaps dating from the period AD 112-114. (Reece Period 5). The obverse depicts a laureate head facing right with drapery on left shoulder. The reverse depicts Mars advancing right. The legends are illegible. Mint of Rome. Compare RIC vol II, p. 263, no. 270. The coin is 18.9mm diameter, 2.2mm thick and 2.34g.
