An incomplete copper-alloy rotary key of medieval date, c.AD 1150 - 1450. The stem of the key is ovate and hollow with both ends terminating in worn breaks.
A sub-rectangular bit projects from one end of the stem and comprises a rectangular ribbed panel from which three wards with two clefts project. One ward in U-shaped.
The metal has a mid-green patina and is worn. The key is 39.3mm long, the stem is 9.6mm in diameter. The bit is 27.5mm wide, 6.9mm thick. The key weighs 20.9g.
