An incomplete post medieval three-piece composite biconvex discoid uniform button, probably of die stamped halves with a drawn wire loop which passes into the back. The button is domed with a convex front, the reverse is concave. The front is decorated with an engraved stylised flower consisting of a six pointed inner ring of sepals within a circle with slightly raised pimple centre, which is in turn contained within incised lines probably added with the aid of a hand-operated machine. On the reverse near the loop the button has a stamped mark, probably of the maker, which is hard to interpret. The diameter is 13mm and the weight 2.07g. Similar five and six petalled flowers were a common motif on 17th and 18th century buttons. The style of this one is typical of the 18th century. Due to the strong likelihood of this button dating from c. AD 1725-1800, it does not qualify as Treasure under the Treasure Act 1996. It is similar to buttons on page 81 of Bailey's Buttons and Fasteners are dated to the 18th century.
