A cast copper-alloy double loop oval buckle weighing 12.08g (0.43oz). This artefact is post medieval with a probable date range of c1550-1650. The buckle is 46.2mm in length and 28.5mm wide. The flat, openwork frame is vesica-shaped (pointed oval shaped) with a beaded outside edge scrolling over the side. The double loops have a bevelled inside edge. There are protrusions either end of the narrowed strap bar with a circular hole at either end. There is also a circular hole in the inner edge of each loop behind the beaded edge of the frame. These four holes have bevelled sides. The complete pin has a wavy profile and loops around the central bar. The pin has a rounded, pointed tip. The pin length is 22.8mm and has a maximum width of 4.2mm. The thickness of the buckle is 3.0mm and has a smooth, plain reverse.
