An incomplete copper alloy medieval buckle and buckle plate, dating from 1270 - 1400 AD.The frame is D shaped with a lip or triangular projection for the pin to rest on. The pin bar is offset, and squared at either end. The buckle plate is wrapped round the pin bar, with a circular notch for the pin. The plate recesses slightly at the pin bar, the pin is missing. At the opposite edge the buckle plate is slightly concave, and has a circular rivet hole containing the copper alloy rivet. The plate is rectangular in shape, widening slightly towards the attachment end. The buckle and frame have a mid green patina, there are traces of iron staining on the pin bar. It measures 26.9mm in length, 15.8mm in width and 2.07g in weight.

A similar buckle can be seen in Egan and Pritchard 1991, page 75, number 309.
