A complete copper alloy coin weight of Post-Medieval date, c.AD 1760 - 1773. The coin weight was used for weighing the Portuguese moidore and 'joe' gold coins, issued between AD 1760 and 1773 AD. Both faces are marked with S D above 13, 6. Indicating a weight equivalent to that of thirteen (13) shillings and six (6) pence. Two smaller letters are present below the value mark which may read S.H though they are too worn to decipher with confidence. They likely represent a makers' mark.
The metal has a dark greyish-brown patina. The weight is 17.6mm in diameter, 3mm thick and weighs 4.5g.
