COIN WEIGHT

Unique ID: DENO-D901CE

Object type certainty: Probably
Workflow status: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation

A cast copper alloy post-medieval coin weight. It is roughly square in plan (18.4 mm x 19.2 mm) with slightly bevelled edges. It is 5 mm thick and weighs 10.4 g. The surface is corroded, but three letters are partly visible: an X and an I, with an S above or below. The size and weight suggest it could be for a Low Countries coin, possibly a double Albertijn (struck in Southern Netherlands 1598 -1621).
