Copper alloy probable coin. Nummus of the House of Constantine (306-361), Arles mint, probably of Constantine I (306-337), Jovi Conservatori; the obverse reading offered is 'looks like' rather than a clear reading. The flan is thin, almost like that of a milled coin. Pierced for suspension at 8 O'clock obverse. Possibly RIC vol. 7 no. 123, issue of 317-318, Reece period 16.

Obverse description: Bull-necked bust laureate cuirassed right.

Obverse inscription: [-]CVNC[---]INVS[---]

Reverse description: Figure standing left with right arm raised and bent holding ?thunderbolt, eagle to lower left, other object lower right.

Reverse inscription: IOVI CONSERVATORI

In exergue: possibly [-]ARL

Diameter: 20.2mm, Weight: 1.45gms, die axis: 12

Notes:

Sam's notes suggest 321-324 for issues of this type from mainly eastern mints.
