Copper alloy probable ferrule. A small cylindrical hollow object with a narrow solid rounded end with an aperture of diameter 1.8mm. The wall of the cylinder is torn, possibly at the site of a light fixing pin [if so, now lost]. Objects of this type are of uncertain function though they are persistently reported, with the most numerous examples coming from Scawby, North Lincolnshire, where they were formerly mounted at the ends of thin wooden rods. Suggested date: Post-Medieval, 1800-1900.
