An incomplete post-Medieval copper-alloy single-loop buckle (c. 1500-c. 1650).

The pin is missing.

The frame is sub-rectangular in plan. It has a curving outer edge and concave sides. At the front the outer edge has a step around the base and there is a pin-rest. The inside of the outer edge is pointed. The narrowed bar is sub-square in cross-section. At each end of the bar the frame has a knop. The rear face, excepting the bar, is bevelled internally.

This buckle frame has a green patina.

Length: 26.8mm; width: 26.0mm; thickness; 5.1mm. Weight: 5.40g.

Similar buckles have been published and date c. 1500-c. 1650 (Whitehead 2003: 28, refs: 144; 146).
