The foot of a cast copper-alloy cauldron leg, with a short remnant of the cauldron leg attached, 43.5 mm long, 37 mm wide; the thickness of the leg is 11.5 mm and the maximum thickness of the tapered foot 17.5 mm and its weight is 178.9 gm. The short remnant of the leg is parallel-sided with a flat back, and the front face is decorated with four moulded parallel ribs. The out-turned foot is flat-bottomed and its angle with the back face of the leg is about 110 degrees. The front of the foot is decorated with three parallel ribs, the ends of which taper and extend as points beyond the foot itself to create the impression of the foot and claws of an animal.

Butler and Green (2003) illustrate a cauldron with long, thin, flat-backed legs on page 166, fig.1, which has three-clawed feet set at a similar angle to its legs, although the legs have only a single rib. They also illustrate a similar leg with four ribs and foot with three claws on a large skillet on page 68, no.45, which is dated from c.1592-1614.
