An incomplete late Iron Age to Early Roman copper alloy strip-bow brooch, probably dating to c. AD 25-75. The brooch survives largely complete, missing the pin and axis bar.

The head of the brooch survives to a width of 16.3mm; this comprises of a rectangular sheet of copper alloy, folded under itself to hold an axis bar and with a rectangular slot cut into the head to accommodate a hinge pin. The left wing is damaged, and the axis bar and pin have been lost. The bow projects from the head with a width of 5.8mm; it comprises of a strip of copper alloy, 1.7mm thick and rectangular in cross section, tapering slightly in width into an unelaborated foot. The front of the bow is decorated with a central, longitudinal wavy line, reserved against a recessed longitudinal field and flanked by parallel ridges. An unperforated, sub-rectangular catchplate projects from the reverse of the foot,

Bayley & Butcher (2004: fig. 119) illustrate an example of Hull's T17, which is of comparable form. Parallels excavated in Roman contexts at Dorchester are published by Woodward et al. (1993: fig. 61, nos. 32, 35-36).
