A copper-alloy fragment of an unidentified object, probably dating to the Medieval period. It is a hollow cast element with a D-shaped cross-section at one end while the opposite end flares outwards in a sort of crescent projection. The sides of the D-shaped end have an outward crescent projection each. The back face is missing a part from the short section (6.76 mm long, 13.41 mm wide) forming the D-shaped end. The object has old breaks now worn and the surface bears a faint white metal coating, which might also be due to the possible tin content in the metal alloy.
The fragment is similar to one of the arms of the hollow unidentified cross SF-40FBA3 on the PAS database. Other examples on the PAS database have been interpreted as a Roman strap distributor (see HESH-F2AF88, LEIC-B1C011, DUR-B9BD39) using parallels originate from military contexts in the Continent.
