A copper alloy Roman nummus of Constantius II (AD 323-361), Reece period 18, minted in AD 353 at Trier. The obverse on this coin is very worn, but the bust can just be seen facing right with its prominent ear. The reverse is of the SALVS AVG NOSTRI type with a chi-rho in the centre flanked by an alpha 'A' and omega 'ω'. This type was only struck at Trier and is attributed to a period known as the Revolt of Poemenius (Kent,1981, pp.164-165). This coin is worn away around the circumference and missing its legends, now only 17 mm in diameter, but would have originally been 22-23 m in diameter when measured against the reference below.
