~~A copper alloy thimble. The outside of the thimble is decorated with irregularly hand drilled circular indentations that spiral up towards the top of the domed cap. This artefact dates to 1350-1500. Similar examples are illustrated in E. F. Holmes' 'Sewing Thimbles', Finds Research Group 700-1700 Datasheet 9.
