A gold posy ring of Post-Medieval date, about AD 1600 - 1800. The hoop is D shaped in section, plain on the outer side and inscribed on the inside with italic script reading "All I refuse and thee I chuse" , with long S forms, followed by a rectangular cartouche containing the maker's mark TT in blackletter style. It is slightly misshapen, being now oval rather than round. It is 22mm in diameter and 1.4mm thick. It weighs 4.39gm.
Compare two examples in the British Museum: AF.1197 and 1961,1202.19 which are both given a date range of the 17th to 18th centuries.
Notes:
As this object cannot be securely dated to before AD 1717, it does not meet the requirements of the 1996 Treasure Act.
