An incomplete copper-alloy possibly Post Medieval double looped buckle, dating to AD 1500-1650. It consists of a flattened oval buckle frame, which has bevelled edges and a series of pairs of transversal ribs decorating the outer face. In profile the buckle has a slightly crescent shape. The bar has still traces of iron corrosion for the pin, which is now missing. At one end of the frame there is an extending zoomorphic element, rappresenting an animal head.
The style of the buckle is similar to the examples in Whitehead (1996, nos. 387-389). The PAS database has several similar examples, some of which have been dated Medieval: WMID-6C1F33, SF-165D23.
