An incomplete copper-alloy trumpet brooch of Roman date, circa AD 75 - 175. The object has broken and is missing the head and catch-plate. All that remains is a portion of the bow which gradually tapers from the broadly circular break where the head would be. The design on the bow is three grooved bands met by a vertical grooved line running from the head. The rest of the brooch is lost to a worn break.
The metal has a mid-green/brown patina and is worn. It is similar in form to examples seen in Hattatt 2000 pg 326, fig 185, particularly no 441. These are noted as dated from the first to the second century AD.
