A complete cast copper-alloy annular brooch dating to the Medieval period, c. 1200-1400. It demonstrates a circular frame (rectangular in section) with a constriction for the pin on one side and a projecting zoomorphic terminal directly opposing it displaying an animal's head with rounded ears and an open mouth. The pin survives intact within the construction, while the upper face of the frame is covered in a pseudo-inscription that cannot be deciphered. Preserved in good condition with a patchy greenish patina, the frame measures 28.64mm in diameter, 35.44mm long, and 2.82mm thick at the midpoint of the frame. It weighs 7.81g.

A number of similar brooches have been recorded on the PAS database, see records HESH-14F335 and NMS-73ED02. An exact published parallel could not be found for this brooch, though Egan and Pritchard (1991) note inscribed examples- see pp. 254-255, nos. 1336-1337.
