A complete gilded copper alloy post-medieval/modern furniture fitting. It consists of a rectangular plate with semi-circular indentations at each end of the longer sides. The outer end curves outwards slightly and is embellished with two v-shaped notches to either side of the centre. There is a small circular hole through the centre of this end. The inner end has a small cylindrical hinge extending from its centre. The edges of the outer face are bevelled and gilding is present on both faces.
A very similar example has been recorded with the PAS from Norfolk: NLM-036715. This was assigned a date range of 1800-1900.
