A section of lead with the remnants of an iron nail which appears to be Roman through it dating to c AD 43-410 (but may be later). The object comprises a sub-rectangular piece of lead. At one end, the lead has a flat vertical face and curved corners. The other end appears to have been broken off or cut as the horizontal line is not even and the vertical end face is sloping in on the back. There is an iron nail through the lead with the shank broken off. Around the nail on the back of the object are brown marks possibly evidencing a washer of the shape of the object to which the section was fixed by the nail. The colour of the lead is beigey white and the ail is reddish brown. The object weighs 67.93g and measures 35.03mm in length, 25.2mm in width, 9.35mm in thickness and 16mm in height.
