An incomplete copper alloy Roman hair pin of group 6 type, dating from the late 1st to early 2nd century AD. The hair pin has a discoidal head, which narrows to the shank.There is raised collar below the head, then a groove. The shank is circular in cross section with a bend in it, narrowing slightly towards the terminal rounded point. There are two points where the shank is worn, before and after the bend.The pin has a dark brown patina. It measures 45.2mm in length, 14.7mm in width, and weighs 4.31g.
