A set of Post Medieval white metal cuff links dating to c. AD 1750-1850. This set of cuff links consists of two octagonal discs secured by a long oval link. Each disc has a concave reverse and an integral loop. The front surface is decorated with a central rose design with five petals around a central cross hatched disc, and a small calyx projecting between each petal, all within a plain linear border.
Cuff links with similar designs are recorded on the database e.g. IOW-4A7C02 and LON-C990D7 which are both silver examples with the note that this design was popular at the end of the 17th century into the 18th century.
One end of the oval link has broken through due to wear. One of the disks has markings on the rear side which may be a maker's mark.
Dora Thornton commented on a similar pair of cufflinks LON-C990D7 in 2012 that the octagonal shape is identifiably later 18th Century and as such should not be declared treasure.
