An incomplete Early Medieval copper alloy hair or dress pin dating to the period circa AD 700-900. The pin has a moulded globular head with flattened top set above a simple line for a collar. The globular head is characterised by a pattern of slanted grooved lines. Beneath the collar, the shaft tapers gently but has broken before reaching its point. It has bent slightly just above the break. The pin is similar in style to Bailey 1997 pg 33, no 20, where it is described as a Saxon pin. The PAS finds recording guide indicates that this style of pin is a common find on Middle Anglo Saxon sites.
