A complete copper alloy buckle plate of probable medieval type, dating from 1200-1400 AD. The buckle plate is rectangular, and has an openwork retangle in the centre, flanked by a circular perforation either side. This is surruonded by an incised border running around the edge. The border is irregular. There are incised lines between the circles and the rectangle. The plate curves round to the reverse of the plate, and has a rectangular slot in the centre for the pin. The plate would have orignally curved round the pin bar. There is no decoration on the reverse. The buckle is worn and broken, and has a dark green patina. It measures 37.7mm in length, 21.9mm in width and weighs 11.04g.
Similar plates can be seen in records NMS-81B3A6 and LIN-93F526.
