A complete knapped lithic implement of Mesolithic to Neolithic date, circa 7000 - 3500 BC. The implement is a fabricator which is sub-ovate in both plan and section formed of a tertiary flake. The implement has been extensively worked in an irregular scaled pattern on all sides having numerous flakes of varying sizes removed from each surface. More extensive stepped, abrupt retouch is evident along both edges.
The flint is a burnt orange in colour with lighter inclusions. The implement is 79.8mm long, 23.3mm wide, 9.5mm thick and weighs 19.3g.
Fabricators may have been used in leatherworking though other suggestions include strike-a-lights.
