Copper alloy button. Die-stamped three piece composite livery button with indistinct maker's details stamped on the back. The front bears a relief motif in heraldic style, depicting an armorial shield charged with three stars above a hanging fleece [Arms of Leeds] flanked by owls with a smaller owl above, and with a scroll below whose legend is indistinct. These arms are distinct from those of Leeds University, founded 1831, though the emblems point to an educational establishment linked to that city. Suggested date: Post-Medieval, 1850-1900.
