Medieval copper alloy pommel cap from a dagger or sword dating to the period c. AD 1400 - 1500. Oval and domed in form, it exhibits a rectangular slot at the apex filled with corroded iron from the missing tang. Radiating from around the slot is a moulded six-armed impeller. The lower edge of the pommel exhibits a recessed collar. The base is open and the interior is hollow. Within are traces of iron corrosion product.
