An incomplete cast copper alloy Roman Hod Hill style brooch dating to the late first century AD. The brooch has side lugs extending from a (broken) triangular plate which is decorated with cast vertical ribs The lower section of the bow is flat and slightly recessed from the upper section; a vertical row of horizontally aligned triangles have been stamped down the lower bow and here the remains of a white-metal coating can be seen. The brooch is missing its head with the hinged pin, and also the foot of the brooch. Some of the openwork catchplate is retained on the reverse. Suggested date AD 43-75.
