A copper-alloy possibly Medieval mount, dating to AD 1066-1500. It is shield-shaped with two circular holes close to the corners. the front face is slightly convex and has traces of white metal coating. The back face is undecorated.
The finder suggests it could be a piece of so called "lorica squamata", scale armour, of uncertain date although possibly could be of Roman date even if it might have been used even much later in Medieval and Post medieval times.
