LEAF ARROWHEAD

Unique ID: PUBLIC-901667

Object type certainty: Certain
Workflow status: Published Find published

A complete leaf shaped flint arrowhead of probable earlier Neolithic date (4000 - 2700 BC) formed on a tertiary flake. The arrowhead is ogival / lentoid (a diamond shaped lozenge) in plan and lentoid in cross section. The arrowhead has been knapped from a mottled light-grey to brown flint which is opaque in places. Both faces of the flint show invasive, scaled, low angled retouch, with one face showing a slight scar, probably caused by a plough or similar machinery. The form is similar in shape to Green's Class 3B or 4B

The arrowhead measures 26.5mm length, 14.9mm width, is 2.6mm thick and weighs 1.1 grams
