An incomplete copper-alloy Roman brooch of the Headstud Type, dating to c. AD 75-250. It consists of a head with wings containing the copper-alloy axis-bar to which a fragmentary pin is still hinged. The front face of the wings, partially preserved, are decorated with stepped transverse grooves where the bow joins the head. On the upper edge of the head there are remains of the chain loop. The bow is irregurarly curved in profile ending in a foot-knob, and it has a sub-rectangular cross section. The front face of the bow has an upper part which is flat and precedes the circular domed stud; after that, the bow has a sequence of ten transverse pointed-oval cells, some of which still house pale greenish enamel. The stud seems to be decorated with cells filled with the same enamel. The back face of the bow has traces of the integral catch -plate. The surface of the brooch is dotted and abraded.
