It consists of a short section of one band or shank of the body of the spur with a symmetrical figure of eight terminal and two strap ends or attachments attached. A small pointed knop extends between the two piercings of the terminal. The strap ends are cast plates, spear shaped, with a collar at the tapering end, after which the narrowed plate is curled through the opening within the terminal. At the broader, attachment end of the strap end is a central piercing for an iron rivet. In both cases, the rivet, or some part of it, is stll in place.
The frame is broadly D shape in section but the on the outer surface, the raised centre of each band is flattened, this flattened section tapering towards the terminal and extending between the two openings to create the knop.
It is 44.40mm in length, 17.25mm in width, 4.35mm thick and weighs 9.52g. The attachment pieces are 25mm in length, 6.84mm in width.2018-04-16 14:31:512019-02-17 16:15:35411Certain113636PAS5AD4A5C7001C2571WILTCopper alloy10627FragmentPOST MEDIEVALPMx41047p0gjgrs6sgxPOST MEDIEVALPMx41047p0gjgrs6sgxMetal detectorCircaCirca89857543925441424392541427SU1332SU1332SU13SW51.08717029-1.8157691961001011288WILT4A5C7B.jpg5988883Salisbury and South Wiltshire Museum4images/rhenry2/South WestEuropean RegionUnitary AuthorityWiltshireUnitary AuthorityWiltshireCivil Parish51.0797-1.80768SalisburyReturned to finder95689
