Fragment of medieval zoomorphic probable binding strip from furniture, bent narrowed thin-sectioned bar projects from the snout of a cast animal head that is highly stylised and angular with crudely modelled ears, eyes and mouth. The snout is pierced by a rivet-hole, rivet missing. The bar continues to the break as a C-sectioned shank. Length (unbent) 69mm. Width 9mm, 3.5mm at broken narrow end. Cf. Margeson (1993) fig.43, no.473. 12th-13th century.
