SCRAPER (TOOL)

Unique ID: DEV-CC5126

Object type certainty: Certain
Workflow status: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation

A flint scraper of probable Late Neolithic date, c. 3300-2400 BC. Worked from an incomplete secondary flake of opaque grey-brown flint, mottled with pale inclusions and with natural breaks at the proximal end and right edge of the dorsal face. Cortex covers c. 70% of the dorsal face, at the proximal and right sides. Along the distal and left edges, the dorsal face exhibits short, scalar, semi-abrupt retouch.

Dimensions: Length: 34.4mm; Width: 26.3mm; Thickness: 8.1mm; Weight: 7.08g.

Part of a small assemblage of flint found in the same area, containing an incomplete plano-convex knife (DEV-100D63) and oblique arrowhead (DEV-CD9A31) suggesting a late Neolithic date range. See also: DEV-CCF8F4, DEV-10962A, DEV-CDDFD5, DEV-CCADC3.
