Post Medieval (later 17th century) incomplete cast lead four part cloth seal. Two discs of a four-part seal remain, discs two and three, but the connecting ribbon is missing. Disc two has 'OF ENGLAND with a bust facing right. Disc three has a fleur-de-lis with 1 to left and ½ to the right.
The seal is in fair condition and the surface has a buff patina.
The largest disc measures 19.39mm long, 13.42mm wide, 1.57mm thick and weighs 1.23g.
Cloth seals were in use between the 14th and 18th centuries (Egan, 1994) as a form of quality control. This may be a 17th century example. There are similar examples recorded by Egan (Egan, 1994, Nos. 129, 130, 136, 142, and 143). These are cloth seals representing Charles II, James II and William III, therefore dating to 1660 to 1702.
