A small cast lead object of uncertain function or age.
Description: The object consists of a sub-circular disc with a sliightly raised lip around its upper edge and an integral, central, tapering spike projecting from the underside. The disc has two opposing holes, one either side of the lower spike each 2mm in diameter. One is complete and one has broken through the outer edge of the disc.
Measurements: Length 12.99mm, diameter 10.28-10.89mm, weight 3.67g
Discussion: This object may be a casting jet with the two holes there to allow the escape of gasses in the casting process. It was associated with objects from the Roman to post-medieval periods so difficult to date.
