Medieval copper alloy buckle with sheet plate dating to the period c. AD 1300 - 1400. D-shaped frame with a small knop at either end of the narrowed and offset strap bar. The outer edge is expanded and exhibits traces of moulded, scrolled decoration. The sheet copper plate is folded around the strap bar and exhibits a central slot allowing the pin to swivel. The plate exhibts fuve rivet holes arranged in a saltire, one of which retains a dome-headed rivet. The edge of the plate is engraved with a double-line border surrounding an engraved design, now indiscernible. Traces of gilding remain.
