An incomplete cast copper-alloy fragment originating from a Roman brooch of probable Colchester Derivative hinged type, dating c. 43-100 AD. Only the catchplate, lower bow and foot survive, the rest of the brooch missing in an old break. It demonstrates a longitudinal groove down the midpoint of the bow, which itself terminates in a small knopped foot. Preserved in fair condition with an even greenish patina, it survives to a length of 24.59mm, 12.95mm thick between the catchplate and bow, and weighs 1.98g.
Though the head of the brooch does not survive, similarly knopped feet are visible on brooches of the aforemmentioned type published by Mackreth (2011, vol. II, pl. 63-66).
