A flint scraper of probable Neolithic date, probably dating to c. 4000-2400 BC. Worked from a large secondary flake of grey/brown flint, with cortex retained along both the left and right sides of the dorsal face, covering c. 60-70%. The flake was struck directly through the cortex, with no clear striking platform and a diffuse bulb of percussion. The distal end of the dorsal face exhibits abrupt, long, scalar retouch. There is a probable deliberate notch worked into the right edge, with short, abrupt, irregular retouch.

Dimensions: length 48.7mm; width 35.5mm; thickness 16.7mm; weight: 24.69g.

Part of a small assemblage of flint all recovered from the same field; comprising of DEV-E1C90D, DEV-E1CE6E, DEV-E1CF22, DEV-E1D34D and DEV-109C25.

DEV-E1C90D and flake 2 of DEV-E1D34D both clearly exhibit very neat blade-like removals, with the core also showing evidence of platform preparation. Whilst not a plano-convex knife DEV-E1CE6E exhibits covering retouch and D-shaped cross section highly reminiscent of these tools. In general, a Neolithic date range is suggested for the assemblage, although with the caveat that it is too small for confident dating. The limited retouch present on DEV-E1CF22 may support this date.
