A complete cast copper alloy assymetrical strap mount of Post-Medieval date (c. AD 1600-1800). The fitting is broadly kite-shaped in plan with a fluted lobed upper terminal above a horizontal bar, while below, the mount's frame tapers with inwardly-curved sides, a collar and an expanded triangular foot with additional raised triangular moulding within. The reverse of the mount has five attachment prongs; one at the top, two at either end of the central bar, one at the foot and a larger prong in the centre. This central prong is curved over and still holds a leather fragment in place.
This is a mount probably for a horse harness strap, similar examples can be seen in Read 2001, pp.44-46 and no.379.
