Copper alloy probable watch winder. An oval frame of plano-convex section with closely spaced diagonal grooves running across its outer convex surface between flat and slightly projecting borders. It is uncertain what was framed, possibly a gemstone. A swivel and loop, now seized up, is set at one end of the loop. At the other end there is a collared projection with a flat iron-stained end, possibly the stub of a winding key. The loop retains gilding traces. Suggested date: Post- Medieval, 1800-1900.
